Teresa Giudice and Caroline Manzo on The Dr. Phil Show – Total Waste of Time

It completely blows my mind that Dr. Phil would invite Teresa Giudice to be on his show when the topic is anything other than anger management, shopping addictions, extreme denial, infidelity, sibling rivalry in adult hood, or out of control children.

I missed the very beginning of the show. When I tuned in Caroline was on some rant about how she is what she is and how she says what she feels and that people need to stop being so politically correct or something like that.

The whole show was a waste of time. Teresa and Caroline were on a panel with a bunch of other people and barely had a chance to speak. The topic of discussion was Jersey Shore and Italian stereotypes . There was an Italian housewife in the audience who commented that The Real Housewives of New Jersey makes Italian’s from New Jersey look bad. Teresa opened her mouth as though she was going to respond, but while she was waiting for her brain to interpret her thoughts and convert them into words Caroline spoke up and said something like “oh come on, you never got mad and screamed at someone in your life?” and then everyone started talking over one another and we really didn’t get any resolution on that comment or come to any sort of agreement over whether or not it is typical New Jersey Italian behavior to flip tables at dinner time. Through all the yelling and interrupting I did manage to hear Teresa say something along the lines of she wouldn’t want her daughters to grow up to be like the Jersey Shore girls. It’s funny, because that is probably exactly what her spoiled over indulged little brats are going to turn out like.

Next they moved onto the issue of “beauty bias”. There was a doctor who came on to explain that people subconsciously judge beauty by the measurements of someones face (how far apart the eyes are, how far the lips are from the nose, how long the face is etc etc…) They used one of Dr. Phil’s staffers to show an example of “good measurements”. Then the doctor who was sitting in the audience pulled out his beauty measuring device and measured doctor Phil’s face. I crossed my fingers and said a little prayer and wished on a star that when he was finished with Dr. Phil he would walk over and measure Teresa’s forehead. But no such luck. Once again Teresa got off easy.

Next they moved on to talking about whether or not a black Dr. Phil producer was racially profiled when she was asked to open her bags at the airport. Caroline jumped in and explained that she didn’t feel racially profiled when she was pulled out of line at the airport once (as though she has the option to feel racially profiled). One of the other panel members pointed out that she’s white so it’s not the same thing. Teresa had nothing to offer on the subject. She didn’t want to tell the story of the time the security guards tackled her at the airport and contacted animal control to hold on to her while they attempted to track down her handlers and figure out how she got out of her cage.

And that was about all there was. Caroline spent the whole time looking incredibly uncomfortable and twisting her legs in rather odd positions. Teresa just sat there staring into space, but in her defense everyone was talking pretty fast and the conversation wasn’t about flower head bands or sparkly things so she was a little out of her element.
