The Real Housewives of Atlanta – Season 3 Finale

The Atlanta women have been getting on my nerves lately, so this is going to be a quick recap, just to finish up the season.

Let’s start with Nene. She started out funny, and ended up just sad. She really got mean and angry this season. I understand that Nene was hurt over her marriage issues, but she really let that hurt manifest itself in ugly ways. A lot of that ugliness was directed at Kim for reasons I don’t quite understand. I’m not sure what Kim did to Nene besides call her an intern. Nene was the one who attacked Kim for apparently no reason, so why is Nene the one who is mad?
Greg finally apologized and tried to have a real conversation with her. He said some nice things and tried to explain some of his actions, but as Nene said, there are only so many times you can hear “I’m sorry” before it doesn’t mean anything anymore. It doesn’t look like Nene and Greg are going to work things out. I think Nene is just waiting for Peter and Cynthia to break up so she can make her move.

 

 

 

I feel like Lawrence got more screen time this season than Sheree did. She had some good commentary, but other than the fake Doc, she didn’t really contribute much. She was more fun when she was asking people “Who gon check me, Boo?” and trying to pull Kim’s wig off. Sheree seems to be serious about the whole “acting” thing. Her confidence far outweighs her skills, but I guess it’s good that she has such high self esteem.

 

 

 

Looks like motherhood softened Fakedra’s cold heart a bit. I was pleasantly surprised to see her cry as she left her baby for the first time to return to work. She admitted that even she was surprised by her reaction. In the end, I guess Fakedra isn’t so bad after all. Especially when compared to the maliciousness going on over in Beverly Hills, Fakedra actually seems rather harmless.

 

 

 

Kandi spent the entire season complaining about Kim and the situation with the Tardy for the Party money. And so guess what she went and did? She went and made another song with Kim and once again didn’t work out the money issues before hand. This season for Kandi was literally a rerun of last season. They didn’t even need to film her, they could have just cut in her scenes from last year and dubbed the new songs over the old ones in her performances.
I think Kandi was vying for a spin off a la Bethenny with the way she was talking about wanting to get married and have another baby before she reached a certain age, or possibly just throwing herself into her work, and can she really have it all? She even wore Bethenny’s dress from the RHONY reunion.

 

 

Kim has a new relationship with a sports guy (is it football? I have no idea), a new set of boobs, and a new baby on the way. Just when things start getting interesting, the show ends! I guess she really likes this new guy because she actually took Big Poppa’s ring off her finger for him. Who else thought she would wear that ring forever just because it’s expensive? I did. We’ve never seen what Kim is like in a relationship. I imagine her sitting on the couch holding the baby in one hand and a glass of wine and a cigarette in the other while screaming at her husband to bring her some something to eat.

 

 

 

Cynthia is more like the girls from Teen Mom than a Real Housewife. She is very childish and seems to have unrealistic ideas about things. “If it doesn’t work out I’ll just get divorced.” “I can’t afford to pay for the wedding, but let’s go through with it anyway and worry about paying the mortgage later.” “I don’t know if I really want to get married, but I reeeeally want to have my party.” Cynthia’s Mom and sister had the right idea when they hid the marriage certificate. If Cynthia were my sister I probably would have replaced the priest with an actor.
I thought this marriage was an awful idea, and something about Peter sets off my creep meter, but when she walked down the stairs and Peter started crying I instantly felt bad for all the bad things I had thought about him.
No one seems to think this marriage is going to last. But Cynthia always runs away from marriage, and this time she went through with it despite all the problems they were having and despite everyone in her life being against it, so you never know. Maybe her and Peter will surprise everyone…. but I doubt it.
