I Think I Have A Ghost In My House… and it smokes.

Ok… so hubby and I were out shopping today and I just got home. He dropped me off to go visit his mom, I came in the house, and almost right away I noticed a piece of cigarette ash on the back of the couch. It’s like a perfectly intact ashen end of a cigarette. Neither of us smoke, no one has been in the house the past couple days, no one has a copy of our keys, and nothing was moved or is missing. There are also no men with ski masks hiding in any of the closets (I checked) and my CSI skills tell me that the lock was not picked or tampered with. It’s just so weird and I’m so freaked out right now. If I disappear and you never hear from me again – the ghost with the bad habit did it.

Doctor, CSI and professional hobby blogger, you are a triple threat.
But seriously, are you sure that it is cigarette ash ? Could it be a bit of poly fiber fill escaping from a cat inspired hole?
Which housewife smokes that might be stalking you?

    • I guess it’s totally possible that Kim could have broken in… either that or a ghost. I don’t see any other possible explanation.

It is def cigarette ash. I used to smoke so I know. I took pics just incase it disappears so I’ll have proof that I’m not crazy.

      • Sangfroid says:

Perhaps Luann. She does have a smokey voice.
She might have been visiting with relatives for the holiday and decided to drop by.
Check the closets for one shouldered dresses, turquoise jewelry and suede boots.

oh oh, quick, you must make a list of your enemies.

  4. Need a Hobby says:

Hmnn. Take a pic & preserve the evidence. Ya never know…

    • Yes I did! I keep checking to see if it’s still there. I don’t know why I think it’s going to disappear. Lol. I don’t want to touch it. Hubby wants to see the evidence when he gets back. We’re going to investigate.

  5. crazysweet says:

my ghosts name is Tom, he doesn’t smoke.

  6. Jeninvegas says:

I’m pretty sure a ghost smokes in my car and then uses hand sanitized and mouthwash so my BF won’t know 😉

    • Adgirl says:

Your ghost should use baby wipes on it’s hands and face to eliminate any evidence. I have no idea how I know this.

  7. housewifeaddict says:

It fell in wrinkle in your clothes (after your lunch with Kim), and fell off when you got home, and onto the couch. Or your cat smokes.

    • But it’s like a perfect cylinder. If it were crumbled ashes there would be more possibilities as to how it got there. I don’t have a cat, and I don’t think the dogs smoke. Where would they hide their cigarettes?
I’m thinking about setting up cameras bc this is the second weird thing I’ve noticed, but that’s what they did in Paranormal Activity and I don’t want to go down that road…

      • Sangfroid says:

Was the first thing along similar lines ?

        • The other thing was a chapstick that appeared on the floor out of nowhere when I was home alone. I found it about a foot from where the ash is now. It’s hardly evidence of anything. It was just weird.
I blamed hubby for the chapstick even though he said it wasn’t his (especially because he took it off the floor and is now using it. Lol.) I prob would have blamed him and his friends for this too and not thought twice about it if he hadn’t been out of the house with me all day.
But now it’s 2 suspicious things that have happened. It doesn’t sound that weird, but for this house it’s weird.
I hope next time something randomly appears it’s money!

      • LynnnSoCal says:

Creepy, ghosts don’t leave physical evidence, do they? I would change locks on your house. My son and I have seen separately , a woman sitting on our living room sofa. She’s dressed in 1920’s apparel. He saw her with a hat, I didn’t. Nothing left behind. Video cam sounds like a good idea too. Good luck with that…

        • I don’t want to see anybody!! Lol. I’d have to move. I would run out of the house and never come back!
Really though, I think I should stop watching Paranormal State marathons.

          • LynnnSoCal says:

Then be happy all you got was ash and a chapstick! Seriously, that’s odd. Lady on the sofa wasn’t scary, maybe more lonely. I feel like “I see dead people”…not all the time

            • Um… there is no way in hell some random see-through lady on the couch is not scary! You are braver than me!

              • LynnnSoCal says:

Uh, well,I guess I’m used to it. I know saying this out loud makes me sound crazy. I’ve been seeing them randomly all my life. It’s been a few years, but that’s how it goes. My friends want me to write a book of my adventures. Meh..

                • You should. Or write a blog about it! Paranormal stuff is all the rage right now. I don’t think it’s crazy, I’ve known a few people who have seen ghosts or lived in haunted houses. I believe it.

                • LynnnSoCal says:

That’s me, the trendsetter! I probably should become a real professional blogger. The stories are too numerous to count. I exaggerate. Most of the time it happens in August. When I lived in Washington/Vancouver area it was pretty much a daily occurrence. I have never felt threatened but the few I’ve shared with have been really frightened. They weren’t even there! Due to my suspicious nature I would like to suggest once again that you change your locks. Just because you didn’t give someone a key doesn’t guarantee that there’s not one out there. I love your blogs, stay safe.

                • The locks are like super duty locks and they can’t be duplicated. You need a code and a special card they give you to make a copy, and even then only authorized people can create a copy. The only person who could possibly have a copy would be the guy who changed the locks I guess… but nothing is missing. Who would break into my house to smoke a cigarette and leave without taking anything? Doesn’t make sense. Not that a ghost who smokes makes sense. Unless it was government agents spying on me and setting up listening devices. I saw on that conspiracy show with Jessie Ventura that the government uses high tech equipment to spy on people. And the Manzo’s do have connections with law enforcement….
Ok so here are the options:

                  1 – I have a ghost who smokes
2 – The guy who changed my locks broke in to have a cigarette
3 – The Manzo’s sent the government to spy on me

I really don’t see any other possibility here.

                • LynnnSoCal says:

Only a fraction of the comment box is showing up, hence skinny post. So here’s a thought: what if the smoker is some pervo that loves women that look like Reese Witherspoon? Any spy cams in light fixtures? Ok, no more Lifetime movies for me! I just creeped myself out!

          • Tam5115 says:

I’ve been on a Paranormal State bender recently too! I just watched all of season 5 a couple days ago.

            • Haha! Yes they play it all day and I use it as my “background noise” so the house isn’t quiet. I don’t know what season we’re on here, but that weird girl’s dad just died and her and the main guy are talking about it.
The people that go on these shows are so crazy. They were talking about teeth marks appearing on their skin and getting scratched and all kinds of crazy shit. I’m like screaming at the tv “Move you fucking morons!” Shit… if I had teeth marks on me I’d be living in the fucking car. Hell, I’d sleep in a tent in the Walmart parking lot, I don’t care. But no way in hell I’m staying in that house.

              • Tam5115 says:

That’s season 5. When Eilfie dyed her hair blond (bad move) and her heart just wasn’t in doing the field work anymore.

I’ve had paranormal experiences before but no way in hell would I sit in the dark all by myself in a haunted house. No f’n way!

      • Need a Hobby says:

Do your dogs play poker? They may be having poker parties when you’re gone. 😉

Paranormal “weird” is one thing, but I’d be concerned if there is any possibility of live humans being involved. I’d double check and perhaps upgrade the security on your place if you’ve had possible evidence of previous intrusions. Seriously.

        • I just don’t think that’s possible. I have super duty locks and the door was locked when I got home. So if someone picked the lock to open it they would have had to pick the lock to close it again. And they didn’t steal anything so it makes no sense… that’s why I’m going with the ghost theory. Lol.
Ok – no more ghost stories! I’m freaking myself out!
Beverly Hills recap coming up. Taylor’s cry face – hahah!

          • Tuzentswurth says:

Yippee, …..and Kim’s date dress, can’t wait. I’m going with the dogs are having poker parties theory. I’ve seen actual pictures of that sort of thing.

  8. Tam5115 says:

Did you smell smoke at all? If you don’t smoke, you’d be able to smell it in your house for a long time after.

Any repair men, cable guys, plumbers etc… been in your house recently? It could have come off their clothing intact if they smoked before coming in.

  9. ImaJillHater2 says:

I’m intrigued. Please keep us posted as to any updates and any additional unusual goings-on. SO mysterious!!!

  10. justanothermary says:

I’d be freaked out and getting a nanny cam, STAT! I do, however, believe in the energies we leave behind when we die. I lived in an old house for years where the kids were always claiming to see “shadows” when they were little and there was the door to one of my sons’ bedroom that would open and close on its’ own. It latched securely when fully closed so it was very odd. The house was not drafty so that wasn’t it either. The holidays were always an especially “active” time. The strangest thing was one very cold winter night we were all in the kitchen eating supper and we smelled wood smoke – there was a fire in the fireplace that none of us lit! Everything was ready for a fire, but we’d all been in the kitchen together for quite a while so it was very odd. We eventually made friends with “Fred” and would talk to him from time to time. He seems harmless and justanothervirgil could not light a decent fire to save his azz!

    • Daisy says:

LOVE the pic of your puppy in the tree stand. Too cute.

I had my first ghost encounter this Friday. I am really embarassed to tell y’all, but I feel compelled. This was in Canton, MS at a bookstore on the square that used to be an old clothing store. My daughter and I was looking and shopping while my youngest was attending a birthday party next door.

They had 100 year old shoes, books, clothes, etc. in there, and the store naturally rocks a creepy old smell. My daughter picked up a book she liked, I think it was The Spiderwick Chronicles. Then, she put it back and walked away. About 30 seconds later, the book flies off of the shelf. She puts it back up and walks away. About 30 seconds later, it flies off of the shelf again. Each time it did this, I was talking about leaving and going to check on my youngest daughter. It fell 3 more times, the last time as we were walking out of the door. I laughingly told the store owner that he had a little ghost in here….totally joking. He really didn’t respond, which was weird now that I think about it. So, we go next door, and were talking about what had happened. Two of the locals told us that that was definitely a ghost, because it was a well known fact that there is a ghost that haunts 4 of the stores on that side of the square, and the bookstore is one of them.

I was not scared, but after the fact was a little unsettling. My daughter wants to go back. She thought it was the coolest thing, and that this little ghost was trying to get her attention. She thinks it is the old clothing store owner trying to get her to buy the book that she was interested in.

    • If your ghost can light a fire, then I guess it’s possible that my ghost can smoke. Lol. I wish it would do the laundry though. That would be awesome.

  11. RHofWhatever says:

You should call the show and tell them you blog about the Real Houswives, and since they were just on the show (or one like it) they could do a tie-in with your place and find out what person that died middle age in the 80’s smokes and uses chapstick in your house.
I only say that because I can picture those particular items as more popular in the late 80’s. I picture her as a ski bunny waiting for her Lane to come pick her up so he can go ski the K-12.

    • You guys really can’t think about anything other than snow when you think about Canada, huh? Lol.
I was actually so bothered by this ash that I called my grandmother and woke her up last night to make sure she was still alive because she is the only person I know who smokes.
She’s alive, so it wasn’t her smoking in the house.

      • Need a Hobby says:

See, there’s one advantage I have that you don’t: a messy house. I’d never notice a mere bit of ash or a chapstick. A Buick, yes.

Besides I’ve got a cat who likes to eat cigs and lick ashtrays if they’re not kept away from him. So that evidence likely would be gone by the time I got home.

I don’t know why, I sometimes suspect that cat is a reincarnated rodent since he likes to chew plastic & paper….or possibly was someone’s late great uncle Bernie or something. Besides eating cigs & ashes, he likes to lick booze bottles too. Go figure. Maybe I should see if he’s got tiny little kitty Playcat mags stashed under my bed.

Anyway, I was thinking if I applied myself, perhaps I could get on that show Hoarders and get a free clean house out of the deal. Then I kinda watched bits of that show and others…..OMG. It’s like I’d have to go waaaaay beyond messy into seriously wtf nutcase call the authorities & the health dept. territory!!! These folks have beyond a mess, they have wall to wall and up to ceiling stuff that includes carcasses of feral critters that wandered in and died, not to mention lost ex-husbands and other domestic fauna. YIKES!

OK. I think I may have digressed.

BTW, glad your gran is still around & kicking. How did she take your call?

      • Tuzentswurth says:

Lol, looking at the latitude lines on a map will show that parts of Canada are more southerly than a large swath of the USA, but stereotypes are so much fun…..almost as much fun as watching white people eat spam.
Hobby, the Buick comment is very funny, I can relate.
I’m here in the country and the stereotype holds true here…..it snowed and I lost my phone and dsl for 4 days. I did have TV service so was able to catch up on Desp. Housewives. I can’t wait for the BH recap, I was afraid I missed it!

  12. jezzibel says:

have you checked your attic? No one has seen Lynn Curtain in a while, she and her family could have taken up residence in your attic

  13. LilyLynn says:

Creeeepy! Maybe someone is living between the walls of your house. Is any food missing? This movie is the first thing that came to my mind when I read what you found.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071186

    • Ew creepy. Haha. I don’t think there is anything between the walls. they’re not thick enough.

      • Candace says:

I don’t want to creep you out, but I have read of intruders/squatters who have lived in attics for quite some time and were not noticed!

Not knowing your home, I’d advise you to check attics, crawk spaces and basements.

Nanny cams and securing any peripheral spaces to your home would be a good start.

Trust your instincts. They are usually right. People usually try to rationalize away things that are disturbing, for many reasons. No one wants to appear “crazy” or overly anxious.

Make sure you are safe, please!

  14. momofthree says:

Do you burn incense? That turns to ash when it burns.

BTW – Did you see that Dina Manzo is going to be in Chicago w/ Jenn Sale? I spend a lot of time volunteering at my church and my children’s school and I know that people are passionate about various diseases or organizations, etc. BUT – My question to Jenn would be, “Would you be spending all this time helping if Dina Manzo was not involved?” I guess the PTA comments are still annoying me.

    • No I didn’t burn anything. Can’t even remember the last time I light a candle. And the ask was thick, not thin like incense.

I read somewhere that child Dina is helping is Jenn’s friend’s daughter. But then I read on the child’s mother’s blog that her cancer is in remission and Dina isn’t really helping her, she is just doing the charity in her name or something. I don’t know. But honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jenn were doing this only because Dina is involved. What charity was she doing before Dina came along? What was she doing for kids with cancer before Dina? Ya know…

  15. kbinldo says:

Speaking of Jen Sales, guess whose article just got published on AC? That’s right! Mine! :squeal: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/6064046/why_is_camille_grammer_so_exhausted.html?cat=16

probably some smoky ol hobby blogger with chapped lips who is jealous of your award winning status….just trying to spook you.

  17. Ok. Update:
There is a ghost for sure. Today I came home and the adjustable stools were different heights and one of the dinning room chairs was not straight. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but I’m one of those people who keeps everything in an exact order. Normally I wouldn’t even pay attention to these things, but now I’m noticing everything
and I’m looking back at all those time I had to re straighten something, or found something out of place or something moved and blamed it on hubby or friends.
Maybe I’ve had a ghost all this time….
I am SO freaked out right now.

    • LilyLynn says:

I got goosebumps reading this. And I love scary movies, listen to Coast-to-Coast, etc., etc., but never when I’m alone. How long have you’ve been living in this home? I too would be tempted to set up a nanny cam, but then that would really freak me out to actually see something. Maybe (hopefully!) your hubby is a practical joker, especially with him knowing the long ash freaked you out? Is your dog acting normal?

      • The dogs are acting normal. Not barking at the wall or anything. I don’t think it’s hubby. He would never be so subtle. If he wanted to freak me out he’d put all the chairs on top of the table or something. We’ve been living here over a year but I never noticed anything until now. I was even trying to remember if I bought something recently, or brought something into the house – but I haven’t bought any antiques or anything like that. I’m giving this ghost 3 chances. If 3 more weird things happen I’m calling ghost hunters for real. On the shows I watch they do some prayers and blessings and it goes away. And Mr. RCH is totally useless, he’s more scared than I am. He said we should stay in a hotel. Lol. But now I don’t even want to leave the house because I don’t want to leave the dogs alone with a ghost.
This is so crazy… I honestly can’t even believe I’m writing this. I’m laughing right now because this is so ridiculous. But if another weird thing happens I think I’ll be crying.

        • LilyLynn says:

That has to be unnerving to say the least. Do you have any info on who has lived there before you guys? I’d take some solace in the fact that the dogs aren’t acting all weirded out. On the bright side, I think you’ve got another award-winning professional article in the making 🙂

        • fashion42 says:

You are much braver than I am, I would have found a hotel that allows dogs and gotten the hell out of there after the police left. (I would have called the police out of fear that some loon was hiding in the house waiting to pounce)

Keep us posted and if you have ghost hunters come to your house you have to film it!

        • Tuzentswurth says:

If the dogs are fine with it and you’ve been there a year with no harm to anyone and if there is a ghost, it is a harmless one that won’t hurt you, may even protect you so I say just go with it. Let it alone and don’t worry. I think Hollywood has just given “spirits” a bad name. Think “Casper”, the friendly ghost rather than Amityville Horror.
          :-0

    • Need a Hobby says:

OMG, are you like Jeff Lewis’ sister or something?

Oh no shit, buckwheat, I can see there’s something messing with you. Just out of principle, if nothing else. Yeah there are uh, folks who just like to yank your chain because they can. Some things don’t change. Got any annoying trickster type relatives that have passed on? ‘Course you can have drive bys too. Yeah, it may sound nuts, but it’s not like most of everyday reality isn’t some kind of major clown college, IMO…

& I’m assuming of course that your hubby’s not trying to gaslight you….i.e., drive you to think you’re nuts. (From the film”Gaslight” with Charles Boyer & Ingrid Bergman. Make sure that hasn’t been on his netflix list.)

Yeah, set up cams. I’d still be more concerned about live humans messing about & would want to rule them out.

    • Candace says:

Seriously, please have a cop come out. Have them look in any peripheral spaces in your home, secure them and get a security cam.

      Do it soon.

  18. WindyCityWondering says:

The real question here is: “Do you really want to know if you have a ghost in your house?” Just continue to blame it on the hubby and the dogs sounds like a good course of action to me.

  19. OneMoreInBoston says:

There is a way to clear out spirits from your house. This was passed down from my great great grandmother. Who’s side of the family settled in the 1600’s in what is now Danvers MA. Most people don’t know that it used to be called Old Salem Town.
I do this every time I move into a new house or apartment, and my house I’m in now was built 1767- no ghostsies ever.

    anyhoo,

You have to take out all of the furniture of the room. Take salt and make a huge cross in the middle of the room.
Take a broom swing around your head (to the right) 3 times, say the Lord’s Prayer with your eyes closed. Then sweep the salt all across the floor into every corner and nook and cranny. Even if you have wall to wall carpet.

Then sweep all the salt up, and it has to be disposed of in water- like the toilet or down the kitchen drain. Then wash the floor really well.

If it’s carpet, vacuum it with a new bag, tear the bag apart under the faucet, so the salt goes down the drain. That’s it.

Put all the furniture back- no spirit can get into the room. But that means GOOD spirits too, like family or pets that have passed over and come back from time to time to check in on you.

You can do it outside on a porch or walkway too, but doesn’t work on grass or a yard.

    ALSO
Turn those shows off. I really think they attract negative energy, and you “pull” the spirits to you- and not necessarily “your” spirits.
Don’t freak out- We are made of energy and when we die, energy never is destroyed-it just gets redistributed around us. Sometimes you can feel it more than other times.
This energy wants to be seen though. Do the spell.
Anytime of day is fine. Try to do with quiet around you- no TV or radio.

    • Is this for real, or are you playing a joke on me?
I think you’re trying to get a laugh when I tell you I spread salt all over my floor and I’m still cleaning it up 6 months from now.

      • LynnnSoCal says:

Whaaa? She’s kidding right? Too funny! I guess it wouldn’t hurt. Nanny cam would be easier. Leave the lights on!

        • Tam5115 says:

There are easier ways, although the salt may work (but what a PITA)

Burning sage is one way. Salt on the windowsills. A priest’s blessing of the house, etc… Google is your friend.

      • OneMoreInBoston says:

no babydoll- I am telling the straight up truth.

My mother’s side of the family has been accused of witchcraft going back to the 1600’s.

Even your truly has been accused of being a witch. Yes I made them repeat it, it WAS witch not BITCH.

I was always taught little “traditions” that my mother swears were just simple superstitions “but why take any chances?” and taught me anyway.

If you think about them, most of them are sort of like feng shui in the way they deal with energy.

Basically, everything has energy. Objects and places can pick up people’s energy and retain it long after the owner has moved on either in this life or onto another life.

That’s why sometimes you instantly feel safe and comfortable in some places and feel creepy and weirded out in others.

IMHO, you have stirred up some energy by keeping these shows on, or are now noticing occurances that probably were always going on but you didn’t notice until your awareness was heightened by these shows.

For whatever reason, salt neutralizes energy. It really doesn’t take too much extra work to do this little spell of protection, it typically isn’t thought of as black magic by any religion, so where is the harm?

Believe me, you will sleep more soundly in a room where you’ve done this purification rite.

        • Ok I’ll give it a try. But can I do it with the furniture still in the room?

          • Tuzentswurth says:

I guess this only works if you are a Christian, right?

            • OneMoreInBoston says:

no, it works with the Lord’ prayer, because that is the only prayer that Jesus ever said in the bible. All the other prayers are from the apostles.

A version of The Lord’s Prayer has actually been found in Egyptian tombs. It is thought to be far older than Christianity, and therefore Judiasm as well.

there is a prayer than can be said if your Jewish, but I can’t remember which one it is- and there is also one that Muslims can say as well.

The sign of the cross can be made as an X instead, I have an aunt that swears the X is the traditional way to do it, but that as this type of superstistous energy clearing became associated with devil worship that it’s practitioners changed it to be more “politically correct” for the age they were in.

              • OneMoreInBoston says:

If you’re Jewish you recite Psalm 91 three times.

                • Tuzentswurth says:

                  Not Christianity, I meant Protestantism.

                • OneMoreInBoston says:

Well, the Lord’s Prayer doesn’t have any reference to Jesus in it.

It was the prayer he used in the Bible to demonstrate how to pray.

It is non denominational, ALL Christian churches use it at Easter time, EXCEPT Mormons.

Since versions of it have been found in Egyptian tombs IMHO it predates Judiasm, Christianity and Islam.

                  This superstition
has been accused of being Wicca.

Here is the side by side comparison of the Maxim’s of Ani and the Lord’s prayer.

                  http://allphilosophy.com/topic/4031

“One of the most important and familiar idioms of the Christian religion is the so-called Lord’s Prayer. Not many people have asked where it came from. Most people trust what is written in the Gospels about its origin. It is from the Maxims of Ani (ancient egyptian writting) that the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” of Christianity was taken:
The Lord’s Prayer (left) next to the Maxims of Ani (right):

Our Father, which art in heaven – The God of this Earth is the ruler of the horizon

Hallowed be Thy Name – Th god is for making great his name. Devote yourself to the adoration of his name

Thy kingdom come – Give your god existence

Thy will be done – He will do thy business

In earth, as it is in heaven – His likeness is upon the Earth

Give us this day our daily bread – God is given incense and food offerings daily

And forgive us our debts – The god will judge the true and honest and forgive our debtors

And lead us not into temptation – Guard against the thing that god abominates

But deliver us from evil – Preserve me from decay

For thine is the kingdom – God is the king of the horizon

The power, and the glory – He magnifies he whoever magnifies him

For ever and ever Amen – Let tomorrow be as today
                  Amen

Some people think Jesus originated this prayer, but he actually used it as an example of how to pray.

    RCH you are fucking crazy.
This is the IDEAL time to accuse your hubby of “being up to something” and you aren’t going to stand for it! Obviously, he is having “company” over and your heart is broken.
It can only be mended with a giant canary diamond ring. Or possibly a three month luxury trip to a warm and decadant climate so you can “think things over”. Perhaps a new Audi sports car will take your mind off his appalling behavior.

    ‘Tis the season!

  21. Justwondering says:

Did the house smell of smoke? And have you ever smelled smoke when there wasn’t any present?

Certain smells can be a way that a spirit is letting their presence be known. Did you lose someone recently that was a smoker?

    • Nope. The house has never smelled like smoke and there was no smell the day I found the ash. No one has died. I haven’t bought any antiques, I haven’t brought anything into the house… it’s totally unexplainable.

  22. Lurkey Loo says:

Hey RCH – I lurke and laugh and love your blogs even tho I haven’t posted. But I loved reading this one and wanted to say a few things. First – you could have a roaming spirit. It happens. But don’t let your fear perpetuate the situation. Your house is YOUR territory now, so you just need to claim it. Don’t give your power up to the spirit/situation so it has control. Take your power back from the situation and gain control yourself.

You know how you went all pro-active with the JS sitch and went on AC and proved your point? You didn’t let a little girl get the best of you. YOU got the best of the situation. Same point here.

A simple way to do it – salt is an old tool that has been used for centuries for this kind of thing. But a simpler way to use it would be to go outside and sprinkle a circle of salt around the perimeter of your house. As you walk, clockwise, say out loud something like, “I claim my space and create a circle of protection around it. Nothing and no one can penetrate this circle of protection. By my will, this shall be! And…don’t f**k with me!” You know, put your power in the space, don’t let the spirit have it. You get the drift, right?

Fear breeds fearful things and you are a powerful woman, so no need to give that up to fear. Take your power and your space back! BTW – this also frees the spirit to go where it is supposed to go…into spirit world. It doesn’t belong in your space.

Anyway, thought I’d share my thoughts. Hope they help. Keep us updated.
Love your efforts here! I don’t have too many reasons to laugh these days and you give me at least one every day! See, your saving the masses one blog and one laugh at a time!!

    Best, Lurkey Loo

    • You know what… You are right! Do you know that I still haven’t cleaned up the ash or re adjusted the stools it moved because I didn’t want to make it mad?
What was I thinking? This ghost deserves the JS treatment! Thank you Lurkey Loo!
(Let’s just hope this thing doesn’t push me down the stairs once I try to get all tough with it)

      • Lurkey Loo says:

Good deal! Get that attitude up! It is messing with you because it’s getting such a charged reaction from you. I saw in your update you contacted some paranormal peeps to come take care of it…and that’s great. BUT, you still need to get tough yourself and try to get over the fear you feel. The spirit is not really after you…or it would have done something by now. I get the feeling it is laughing it’s a** off at the rise it’s getting out of you! 😛

Remember that fear breeds fear, that’s important. The more pure power you exert over the situation, the less power there is for it to exert.

When this is all over, I strongly suggest doing a protection blessing on your house and you won’t have any more worries. I do this regularly around myself, my house, my cars and my daughter. Keeps us safe from seen or unseen harm. Ask me about it when you are ready!

Everything will be fine!! Put your personal power pack on and you will come through this just fine! Believe that!

        Best, Lurkey Loo

    • Need a Hobby says:

Lurkey’s right about the fear thing, IMO.

Right now, all you have is some unexplained annoyances. Your reaction is giving them a power over you that ordinarily an object moved here or there wouldn’t have. OK, maybe you’re more OCD than I am so that would bother you more than me. And having grown up in a house with “activity” perhaps I have a different perspective so the idea that something’s going on that I don’t quite understand doesn’t freak me out. My response is more likely to be annoyed and perhaps a tad pissed. (Unless it’s something really cool.) To quote a well known author, it just “bugs” you know?

But I wouldn’t be run out of my place because of some BS tricks. Take back your power.

      • Tam5115 says:

This is true. We had a ghost in our house when we moved in almost 18 years ago. It didn’t DO anything nasty, pretty much was seen only on the stairs. But it used to hide things. One day I went to get some type of cleaner out of the cupboard and it wasn’t there. I was just irritated beyond belief with this stuff. I stood in the middle of the room and talked to it out loud, told it to put it back for the love of God, put it back. It did.

We haven’t seen the ghost in many years now. Once we tore up the godawful carpeting and linoleum in the kitchen, down to the hardwood floor, it quit coming around. I guess they hated that carpet as much as we did?

        • Lurkey Loo says:

Hobby & Tam – these are such great stories! The thing is, nothing can have any power over us unless we allow it and give it over. Once we do, and they get attention from us, they run with it. what else have they got to do but these shenanigans?! LOL!

Nothing in life can get us unless we give up power to it. The minute we take our power back from anyone or any situation, the tables turn right over in our favor. I think RCH’s little guest is getting a kick out of her attention to it – since it was pretty quiet until recently – and now she needs to send it on it’s way.

          The little stinker!

      • Haha. It’s does “bug” LOL
I keep teling myself it’s so dumb to be scared of open vents or the height of a stool, but I can’t help it. It’s just freaking me out.

  24. Update:
First of all, I am sorry about the late recaps, but this is like the worst month with holidays, and parties, and dinners, and planning my charities, and now that I have a ghost I’ve been making excuses to not stay in the house alone and I can’t write my recaps in front of people (this blog is a total secret) so I’m sorry about that guys. I know I’m like 2 behind.

So I have decided this thing is definitely a ghost. I was sceptical at first, and was half joking when I originally posted this blog, but now I’m sure of it. I am one of those super organized people, everything has it’s place so if something is moved an inch, I know it. One thing that has been bothering me for a while is the ipad and the wireless internet hub (if you don’t know what that is: http://www.mobileincanada.com/tags-en-wifi.html ). I have a little square cube seat/stool thingy in the living room. On top of that sits the ipad, and squarely in the middle I place the hub, and that is their spot when they’re not in use so they can charge in the plug that’s right there. At least a few times a day I notice that the hub is either on the side of the ipad or totally off the edge. I might possibly be a little OCD and this just drives me crazy and I’m constantly moving it back into the center of the ipad. I always assumed hubby didn’t put it back properly, or someone bumped it when walking by. But now I’m paying attention to these things. So we did a little experiment. We placed the hub in the middle of the ipad and walked away, literally 5 minutes later when we looked again it was off the side (and I watched him to make sure he wasn’t messing with me – he didn’t go near it). We did this over and over and it moved every time. Sometimes we placed the hub in the corner of the ipad, sometimes at the bottom, and every time we checked back it had moved to a different position. But if we stood there and watched – nothing happened. But when we walked away it moved in minutes. Finally it stopped moving. An hour passed and it was still in the same spot. And for a few hours absolutely nothing happened. The living room/dining area is up two steps from the kitchen, and all the activity seems to be happening on this level, so I’ve kinda been avoiding going there and just staying in the kitchen. Well, after a few hours with nothing weird happening I was feeling pretty good and I wasn’t really scared anymore. So I walked up the two steps and walked around the living room. Everything was normal, nothing out of place, I looked out the window at the disaster going on outside (snow storm)… I turned around and the first thing I notice – the slats of the wall vent are all open. (I couldn’t find a picture that looks like my vent, but it’s kinds like this one: http://www.oatey.com/apps/catalog/instance_assets/assets/Photo/Sure-Vent_Wall_Box.jpg except the slats on mine are moveable) It made my hair stand up on end. This vent is right above the stool where the ipad sits, and those slats are ALWAYS closed. I had even just tightened them up earlier because when we were doing our hub/ipad experiments one slat looked slightly open.
So now I am officially freaked the fuck out. I’m bringing my dogs with me on errands today because I don’t want to leave them alone. I emailed a couple paranormal investigators and begged them to come asap and get rid of it. I told hubby about the spell with the salt – he said no way in hell is he moving all that furniture. He said if I want to spread salt on the floor I can do it around the furniture. Lol.

    • Need a Hobby says:

Just a note: I’d be very wary of inviting just anyone in who claims to be a “paranormal investigator.” I probably wouldn’t do it myself.

If you really want to do that (bear in mind there are no real “experts”), just as when selecting a contractor, review the various groups/individuals, what they’re about and then decide. There’s a lot of BS, ignorance, and agendas in that “field” if I can call it that. Not to mention frauds and hoaxers. Anyone who thinks, for example, that a K2 meter is a ghost detector shouldn’t get anywhere near you or your place. IMO

You think real ho’wives & followers squabble and go all BSC on each other, you should see the argy bargy among many “noted paranormal investigators.” Doesn’t inspire confidence. I’d prolly rather start loading up on salt and sage rather than get involved with some of those folks. JMO.

    • Need a Hobby says:

On a lighter note, maybe the boo is an Apple fan. You know how they get. And you seriously dissed Apple products. Hence the interest in your iPad. Or maybe it just wants to blog?

Next thing, it’ll have its own twitter account. 😉

    • LynnnSoCal says:

Ok, I feel much better about my own experiences after reading recent comments. While living in Bellingham area I saw and heard voices ALL the time. I finally realized that they wanted to tell me stuff. Random info. I remember finally one night being barraged with people trying to talk over each other while I was driving home. It was actually terrifying. I pulled my car over to the side of the road and parked. I gather myself together and started yelling at them! I said” I’ve had enough, I’m here, your there. There’s not much I can or want to do for you. You’ve got to let me be! I mean it!”. One of the more bizarre episodes in my life. It worked. Never heard from them there again. So I agree with other posters here. Take charge like you normally would. It’s your house. Also fwiw, my pets don’t always sense the energy when I do. You’ll be fine. Really! Aloha

Yep, you got one of them hobgoblins. Thing is it’s playing with you, before you call anyone else, stand your ground, and yell at it that you are not amused and to leave your house…follow that with walking around the room burning sage, especially that one spot with all the activity (in particular the Ipad)or you can do the salt thing. I’ve heard both work. Please don’t be freaked out…but I’m curious as to why your dogs aren’t reacting in anyway, they usually are the first to sense these kinds of things.

  27. OneMoreInBoston says:

Wow- RCH I didn’t read all the way to the end before I posted up thread. I can tell you are getting a lil freaked out.

Sage works, priests blessings, and your own blessings all work. Sometimes telling ghosts off works, but sometimes they don’t “hear” you.

I have never heard of a “paranormal” working. Typically they are looking for scientific “proof” of paranormal activity. OK and then what? (OMG I can’t resist- I’m trying to resist…I give up) Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS????

Alright it’s out of my system.

That’s interesting that the dogs aren’t reacting, maybe they have become accustomed to it because it’s been going on longer than you realize.

You can do the salt purification in a room with furniture, but you’ve got to to get the salt on the ENTIRE floor. So you’ve got to move the heavier pieces. Personally, I think you should do it alone, don’t get the hubster involved. Men don’t really “get” this, and you will need to focus.

ps- The idea about the salt AROUND the house is also something I’ve heard of, but if the energy is IN the house- it won’t help until the energy has gone. Then it can be done to protect the house. I’ve never done it because I rent in a busy neighborhood in a city, and believe me someone here will probably call the cops.

    • I live in the city too so I would have to go around the whole block, but it’s not a big block so I think I could do it with two boxes of salt. And since it’s snowing no one would really think twice if I were putting salt on the ground. Lol

      • Jeana (@LuvToLoveU) says:

You are cracking me up!! I can see you now going around your city block with your Morton Salt chanting!! LMAO!! Please have your husband take pictures.

You don’t have Tara cards or horoscope shit around your house…my Mom told me that “spirits” can jump off of them. I saw The Exorcist when I was 7 with my older brother and that was enough for me to never want “spirits” in me!! My Mom said that I wasn’t allowed to watch!! Wish I would have listened. I still have nightmares over that movie!

      • Lurkey Loo says:

RCH – if you can’t go around JUST the perimeter of your own house – not the entire block – then do this. In clockwise motion beginning at your front door (inside the house), sprinkle the salt in the corners of each room as you pass through. You really want to keep this circle contained to your own property, otherwise you will be responsible for keeping the entire neighborhood protected! This is just about you and your house and keeping out unwanted guests.

Another ditty you might do before you sprinkle the salt is clear the energy of the house with a sage stick. Just say something simple about clearing unwanted energies. Then do the salt circle.

Email me if you want more details. Good Luck sweetie!
        RCH – Hobby & Professional Blogger/Ghostbuster! Nice!

      • Tuzentswurth says:

Let me know before you do this, I want to buy some stock in Morton’s just in case you end up having to circle the whole city or maybe even the whole country with salt to chase this interloper away. Also, should one use fine salt, sea salt, kosher salt, rock salt, calcium salt, KCl, MgSO4, NaCl, etc, does it make a difference?

ROTFLMAO! OMIB “Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS????” LOL

  28. justanothermary says:

The one thing I know from experience is that the more open you are to them the more they will bother you. Just by watching Paranormal State you’re opening your mind, and your surroundings, to possibilities that you may have dismissed before. This is why most non-believers will never have an experience, they simply refuse to accept the possibility. It’s the same way with God, if you don’t believe you don’t experience an exceptionally wonderful day as a miracle. Also, I believe you should always be armed. I’m a Catholic so there are several rosaries, crosses, ect. in my home. I believe they give me comfort, so they do. In the reverse, having a Ouiji board or books on Wicca around can cause chaos.

The point is, I believe it’s a good thing to have an open mind as long as you’re smart about it. Arm yourself with knowledge and whatever it is that comforts you. Simply tell your entity that you want them gone. The house is now yours and they are dead, they need to pass over. Also, know that a vast majority of spirits are not harmful, just slightly annoying. If there was something evil in your home your dogs would most definitely know it and would act strangely or simply refuse to be in the space. If they’re comfortable with it, you should be too. JMHO

    • I don’t have Ouiji boards or anything like that. BUT I was saying to my husband that the ipad was kinda acting like a Ouiji board with the way the hub gliding across it… he thinks it’s trying to communicate.

      • Need a Hobby says:

I agree, RCH!! Clearly that iPad is at the root of it.

I may have failed to mention earlier that I am actually an unpaid hobby paranormal investigator. I even have a certificate, which I just printed out, making me a certified unpaid hobby paranormal investigator.

Anyway, in my (non)professional opinion, it’s clear that the interaction between energies within the internet and your iPad have opened an energy vortex within your house. (Kinda like the fridge in Ghostbusters.) As you must know, from your extensive TV research, vortexes are not to be messed with. Nuh uh. No. Bad vortex.

If I were you, I would get that iPad thingy right out of your house like ASAP. And, fortunately for you, I also happen to run run an internet connection device rehab center for the occasional electronic device that has unwittingly been taken over by the powers of the vortex. You see, these powers from the vortex dimension take over these poor innocent devices in order to communicate their messages of distraction, division, and dementia across the internet.

        Which, of course, explains Twitter.

Now, this sort of rehab is not for the unseasoned amateur. Normally, people would pay much for my services. But since we’re like cyber buds and all, I’m willing to accept all the risk and take that poor leedle possessed iPaddy off your hands, free of charge. Just wrap it up and send it to me.

It may take time for the poor leedle thingy to recover and heal (at least until the release of iPad 2 with the 7″ iPad…that’s gonna be so sweet), so be patient. It will be in good hands, I assure you.

So just send me that iPad, toss some salt & sage around, bring in a rabbi, a priest, and a shaman (although other denominations and substitutions are allowed) to say a few words, have a toast and you should be good to go.

        🙂

      • Adgirl says:

Is your home built on an Indian burial ground?

  29. justanothermary says:

Oh – you know what would be interesting? Try placing a cross or rosary over the ipad and see if it still happens. A friendly spirit would not be bothered, but an evil entity would have a fit.

    • I’m tempted to try that…
But I don’t want to encourage it. I’ll have to think about it.

    • OneMoreInBoston says:

Hi there @justanothermary- what’s a girl like you doing in a joint like this?

back to your comment, it depends if you believe that negative energy is a demon or demonic influence. I personally don’t believe in demons, but do believe in evil. A truly evil force IMHO would not be influenced by a piece of metal shaped into a crucifix or cross.

Father Gabriele Amorth, is the Vatican’s chief exorcist for over 25 years and says he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said on March 11, 2010 “the Devil is at work inside the Vatican”.

He was also among the Vatican officials who warned that J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels made a “false distinction between black and white magic”, while personally I think they offer a parable of Christ similar to the Narnia Chronicles.

      • justanothermary says:

Hi ya OMIB – I hang out here from time to time.

The bottom line for me is the dogs. If they’re not bothered I’m not worried for anyone’s safety. They sense things we’re never aware of.

    • Tuzentswurth says:

The spirit would only be bothered if it was a spirit with Catholic beliefs. . I don’t know if entities (energy, souls, spirits or whatever you want to call it) follow religious dogma. Also, in arming yourself with knowledge, understand that Wicca is not an evil devil-worshiping dogma. It is a nature-based dogma that was prevalent before the Crusades. “Paganism (from Latin paganus, meaning “country dweller”, “rustic”[1]) is a blanket term, typically used to refer to polytheistic religious traditions, although from a Christian perspective, the term can encompass all non–Abrahamic religions.” Rustic, country dwelling folk worshiped nature and their festivals revolved around Mother Earth, and the seasons which produced their life-sustaining crops etc. Hence Christianity timed their celebrations around already existing traditions to more easily convert these nature-worshipers. Christianity demonized and wiped out these cultures, traveling forward in time many years, this was the basis of many people being accused in Salem , Massachusetts….someone using herbs to cure something or other such nonsense, resulting in brutal slaughter of innocent people.

With all due respect to you I don’t believe that Christians or Christianity has a moral advantage over any religion.

Furthermore NO WHERE in the Koran is violence encouraged.

                Fanatics come in ALL religions.

Do you know what religion Timothy McVeigh was?

                now I’m just sayin’

      • Tam5115 says:

I just don’t believe that ghosts operate by the rules of whatever religion they may have practiced while alive. That’s because religion is man made. Rather, it would react to what the live people believe. We give it power by our faith. so, if you are Christian, by all means use Jesus’ name to command the spirit to leave. If Catholic, sprinkle a little holy water around and hang a crucifix or rosary. It works if you have faith and won’t if you don’t. YOU are in control.

I don’t believe that you will attract bad spirits by watching shows. Not at all. In fact I think the more knowledge you have, the better you can protect yourself. In so many of these cases, the people have done something without knowledge that does allow the bad stuff in. (Ouija boards, seances etc…) Most of the time they don’t even make a connection between the two until they are up to their asses in shit. (Oh wait, there was that time that we broke the circle when our dumb ass brother summoned a demon and… you don’t think that has anything to do with this though, right?)

Most ghosts are benign. Someone connected to the house perhaps because it was once theirs, or a relative who wants to be around you.

Animals will react violently if the energy is dark or evil. Darn tooting they will. They will whine, growl, bark, cower or refuse to enter. Whatever you have, it isn’t bad.

      • OneMoreInBoston says:

        I disagree.

The Catholics know something about exocism and about the devil that other religons don’t

When I studied with Laurie Cabot in Salem, she told me only the Catholics can do an excorcism. Some Kabbalah Rabbis too. I was told never to mess with anything I thought was a true demon myself. but to have 12 others with me, or to have 10 Kabbalah men.

I mentioned the Vatican’s statement on witchcraft. I have not adressed Wicca in any way, as most intelligent posters here understand that it is two different designations for working with energy.

        • Tam5115 says:

Oh I agree that Catholics are the ones who do exorcism. But isn’t that because they are willing to acknowledge that the need exists? While many other Christian based religions do not accept the concept of demons or possession. I’m Catholic myself, and it’s even a dark secret within the church itself. Sweet little Sister Ann asked me to tape an exorcism so she could see it… the church did not talk to them about it and she was highly curious. (I wasn’t at an exorcism, it was on some news show and we were talking about it at adult education class at the cathedral)

What I meant was that IMO, all religions are basically recognizing the same higher power, no matter what you call it. So if in life, that spirit was Jewish, using Jesus’ name isn’t going to make the spirit refuse. Maybe I’m not explaining it right. Religion is man made, spirituality is not. (here I go, breaking daddy’s rule to never speak of religion)

And oh yeah, never ever mess with demonic forces yourself. That a whole other tea party, so to speak. Especially since they are good at masking what they are. This is when a Catholic priest is called for, but not because they are Catholic, but because they acknowledge it (am I making any sense? LOL)

          • Tuzentswurth says:

Bravo Tam.. “Religion is man made, spirituality is not.” You are right even if you did have to step up and break Daddy’s rule! You rebel you!

          • OneMoreInBoston says:

Yes you are making sense, but no I disagree with you.

You are assuming that because religion is a man made construct that therefore any evil or negative energy will not recognize any religion and continue on it’s merry way.

I do not agree. Religion may have sprung up around ancient beliefs and yes the modern day church(s) may have coopted thos ebeliefs but somewhere in every relion is the primordial belief in evil and how to combat it.

            Excorcism exists in every religion.

            • Tam5115 says:

“You are assuming that because religion is a man made construct that therefore any evil or negative energy will not recognize any religion and continue on it’s merry way.”

😦 See, you did misunderstand me. I never intended anyone to think I meant spirits wouldn’t recognize any religion. I meant in fact, the opposite! They would in fact, recognize ALL religions because they all have the same basic beliefs.

That primordial belief as you put it, not only of evil but of a higher power.

But I don’t agree that all religions believe in or practice exorcism. They all believe in evil for sure, but there is a reason that you have to go through the Catholic church to “maybe” get one performed. It’s not as though you can look up Exorcists R Us.

              • OneMoreInBoston says:

Excorcisms exist in every religion. They differ in content because of each religion’s main philosophies regarding good and evil.

“Abrahamic religions” are Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam.

The Jewish exorcism ritual is the Ba’al Shem Tov. Judaism views dibbukim as those negative forces in the spiritual realm which attach themselves to the soul.

There is also a ritual performed by a rabbi who has mastered practical Kabbalah. The ceremony involves a quorum of 10 people who gather in a circle around the possessed person. The group recites Psalm 91 three times, and the rabbi blows the shofar — a ram’s horn.

Christianity’s exorcism has been well documented by films.

In Islam, exorcism is called ruqya. It is used to repair the damage caused by witchcraft. It consists in reciting some specific verses from the Quran which glorify God and invoke God’s help.T he Azan (which is the call for daily prayers) is also read, as this has the effect of repelling the Jinn(demons).

“Indian Religions” include Hinduism and Buddhism.

the Hindu’s exorcism rite is one of the most complex and IMHO fascinating.

Of the four Vedas (holy books of the Hindus), the Atharva Veda is said to contain the secrets related to magic and alchemy.

The basic means of exorcism are the mantra and the yajna used in both Vedic and Tantric traditions.

Vaishnava traditions also employ a recitation of names of the gods and reading scriptures aloud. Reading the 3rd, 7th and 8th chapter of Bhagavad Gita and mentally offering the prayers to the ghosts or spirits of departed persons helps them to get released from their ghostly situation. Repeating mantras, keeping scriptures and holy pictures of the deities in the house, burning incense, sprinkling water from holy rivers, and blowing conches are also used.

In Buddhism, exorcism does exist depending on the Buddhist sect. Each differs from the others: some view it as metaphorical, some esoteric, and some do see it as literal.

The Tibetan Buddhists view exorcism as a metaphor for expelling negative thoughts and transforming them into an enlightened mind.

Although most Buddhists believe in blessings rather than exorcisms to rid themselves or their property of negative thoughts and negative spirits.

There is too little space here to list the other, less influential religions, but every religion has exorcisms rituals. They may be concealed from their general congregations but they do exist and are used.

                • Tam5115 says:

                  I stand corrected. 🙂
You sure know a lot about other religions, which is cool.

But somewhat confusing to me is that upthread you did say:
“The Catholics know something about exocism and about the devil that other religons don’t”
And that only Catholics can perform an exorcism or Kabbalah Rabbis… some of them.

It was my understanding that of all Christian based religions, only the Catholics acknowledge a need for or performed exorcism. I guess that is what I was mainly getting at. No offense to anyone intended.

Your knowledge is really impressive and interesting! 🙂

                • OneMoreInBoston says:

                  hey- no offense taken.

You know it’s interesting that many people seem to hold Catholicism separate from Christianity.

You and both know that Catholics ARE Christians- a denomination.

Within Christianity there are denominations (Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans…) that an excorcism or request of one, would be like saying confession while using a rosary and burning insence all at the same time.

                  just.not.done.

So sorry if I was confusing, when I looked back at my comment it WAS very unclear.

The word Catholic with a small “c”-
catholic- is Latin for “all encompassing”.

If you go to a Catholic Church and you are in trouble with a spiritual issue such as demons or a posession or really anything, no matter what your religion , or denomination you will not be turned away.

They may ask you for a donation though.

                  omg- I’m kidding, I’m kidding!

  31. Adgirl says:

May I suggest a peace gesture?

My family has an annual tradition we practice one week prior to the end of the year. We leave an offering to a special presence that secretly visits our home while we sleep.

    The offering includes:
    – A plate of chocolate chip cookies.
    – 1/2 dozen carrots.
    – Tumbler of very good whiskey.

These precious items are left at bedtime on our hearth .
Every single year when we awake the cookies are gone, carrots chewed and the whiskey glass is completely empty!
    EVERY YEAR!!

    It can’t hurt – right?

  32. CAgirl says:

I believe the spirits are punishing you because you’ve been holding out in a RHoBH recap…

  33. Steph says:

I think you’re lucky. something that exists on a level we can’t even understand is trying to communicate with you. I’m with Tam5115 above–if your dogs aren’t upset, it can’t be bad. Animals are so loving and pure–especially dogs.

Sometimes, I beg my dead grandmother to speak to me. I plead. She hasn’t yet, that I know of. If she did, it would change my life.

Has this changed your life? I wonder what they’re trying to tell you. I know you’re scared, but they haven’t given you any reason to be scared (other than by letting you know they’re there). I imagine that there are terrifying ways that a spirit could use to notify you of its existence. It hasn’t done anything awful. It wants you to realize it’s there because it wants to communicate with you. (I’m assuming) I wonder what it, or they, are trying to tell you.

I think you’re lucky though. And I’m glad you’re listening, because that must mean they’re trying to tell you something. Maybe if you just stand in your house and you tell them (it?) you’re scared, and you say, “Please stop scaring me–I’m willing to listen to you if you have something to say.” I think that’s what I’d do. They don’t want to hurt you. They’re probably excited that you’re realizing they’re there! High fiving each other and fighting over who gets to take turns trying to speak to you.

Also it’s 4:30 AM in LA and I’m stoned and drunk. So you might just be fucking crazy and listening to the advice of a 28 year old drug addict who romanticizes life as a way to escape reality.

    So good luck with that.

    • Sangfroid says:

RCH, Steph may have a good point, maybe news of your professionalism has reached beyond the mortal realm and someone wants you to blog about them! Seems they are suggesting you do it using the ipad.

Steph, I too would love to hear from my grandmother’s, either of them. They were important women in my life yet their lives were very different from mine. Perhaps it is a bit selfish of me to still want their guidance and approval but it doesn’t stop me from feeling that way. Of course it would probably scare me if it happened.

I would hazard to say that many of us, and we represent a broad spectrum of ages and lifestyles, romanticize life as a way to escape reality. If we didn’t we would not be so easily seduced by all these Holiday commercials and other marketing ploys pressuring us into unattainable goals. Martha Stewart’s magical decorating van skipped my house this year on her whirlwind Christmas tour so my family will have to deal with my feeble attempts once again. Spider webs are still up from Halloween, maybe if I add lights?

Sorry you were up at 4:30 am , I hope that your troubles pass and your joy increases.

    • OneMoreInBoston says:

Steph- maybe you’re joking, maybe you’re not.

      I am concerned.

Whatever guidance that you are looking for from your grandmother can be found within yourself.

Everything, even death and addiction, happens for your higher good. You cannot reach that higher good without healing yourself.

You cannot heal yourself with drugs or booze in your system. All you’re doing is hiding from the pain. You must confront the pain in order to heal it.

      You can do this.

      Sending you love.

Good advice all you beautiful posters. I agree RCH, if the dogs aren’t upset, you should feel perfectly safe, I would with my dog nearby.
Steph, I hope you were exaggerating because your life is a wonderful gift to be cherished, everyone, even your Grandmother has terrible troubles that must be dealt with at times, but they pass and you really need your best wits about you to triumph, so you can enjoy the wondrous, miraculous times that are to be found too. You’re 28! Get to bed at a decent time young lady, wake up, clear your head and get on with it.(Trying the nagging route)…take care of your life, you are important to many.

    • RHofWhatever says:

Steph – I had to write after reading your post. I had/have a stronger relationship with my great-grandmother since she’s passed than when I was a child under 7yrs of age and she was around. The only way I was able to build that bond was by leaving a religion that was based on cult-principles and told me what to think/watch/wear/say, so I had no control over my own life and thoughts. It sounds like that is where you are right now…no control over your own life and thoughts.
You have the strength in you. You just need to harness it and take back control. When you have that, you will feel her, hear phrases she may have said, see her favorite animal, smell that special meal, have a memory so strong it’s like your living it again….she hears you and wants you to hear her.
BTW – I have never seen or heard my Babchi myself, only others that have this gift have been able to share that with me, but it doesn’t lessen my knowledge that she’s there. And I have asked on many occasions asked to be able to see/hear or feel her, but I think she realizes I’m deep down not ready for that yet. (I’m still a little scared of spirits/energy due to lifelong religious conditioning)
My heart goes out to you. Please know there is a doorway to self-love, you just have to be ready to take it…and there are SO MANY people that will help you walk through it 🙂

  34. WindyCityWondering says:

RCH – have you done any research on former owners? If your home is attached you might want to look into the history of the entire structure (or land) to see if anything/anyone of note is connected to the building. You might find something that will put what is currently happening into perspective and make you feel more at ease. Since this thing isn’t paying the mortgage/rent, utilities, etc – you have every right to tell it to leave and that it has no right to scare you!
I once lived in a turn of the century two flat. Every morning I would find a window in the front room open a couple of inches. I could lock it and still find it open the next morning! This really drove me nuts and pissed me off too. I finally mentioned it to the old lady landlord who lived on the first floor. She told me a daughter of the former owner committed suicide by jumping out that window (I verified it from old newspaper article/obituary). A friend did a sage burning and placed a blessed metal of the patron saint of lost souls on the window sill. The window activity stopped. So maybe if you do a little research you will understand what is going on and then find a way to make it stop.

  35. Larue says:

I live in a state with a lot of Native American culture and traditions. A friend of mine grew up around these rituals and ceremonies. She made her own sage sticks and blessed my home for me when I brought in antiques and artwork from my mother’s home after she committed suicide. I had been having lots of difficulty with certain pieces of furniture and art. After she smoked the house, furniture and art with the sage I never had anymore problems.

I know that it can be unsettling but I think you have been given lots of good advice. I agree that you should take a proactive stance and deal with the entities with kindness but firmly.

    Sending positive vibes your way.

  36. Ok I finally caught up with all the comments. You guys are cracking me up! Evil ipad haha.
Ok, so I yelled at the ghost in the same voice I use when the dogs pee on the floor. I said “You better stop moving my shit around you prostitution whore or we’re gonna have problems!” I really did say that. And I yelled loud so I hope the neighbors didn’t hear. Lol.
I fixed the stools and made them all the same height (as I was yelling), I tightened the vent slats extra tight, and I moved the ipad somewhere else and left the hub sitting crooked instead of straight. Every time I go up the steps I tell it “I better not see anything out of place!” Late last night the top slat of the vent was half way open, but that was the only weird thing. Nothing else happened after that and nothing happened today either.
I agree with you guys that I don’t think the ghost is bad. It really didn’t do anything horrible, it’s just freaking me out. Someone braver probably wouldn’t be bothered by this stuff.
It’s weird… because a part of me is so tempted to try to communicate because I feel like it’s making an effort to let me know it’s here. But the other part of me is terrified and doesn’t care what it has to say and just wants it to go away. If this were my friends house, I would totally be buying a Oiuji board and doing experiments and then returning to the safety of my own home afterwards. But since I have to live here and spend time here alone – I don’t think I want to talk to it. I keep telling myself it’s so silly to be scared of little things being moved around but I can’t help it – it just freaks me out.
I bought a framed Jewish blessing for the home and I hung that, a rosary, a wooden bracelet with saints on it, and a dream catcher on the wall in the hallway (just to cover all my bases). I plan to burn some sage too, but I have to get some first.
I wanted to do the salt spell too but hubby wouldn’t let me put salt on the floor. That’s where he drew the line. 😦 We’re still negotiating about the cameras. He told me to just set up a video camera. But I want the professional cameras that cover the whole room and you can watch the video on your cell phone. He said the only reason I want that is because I saw it on a comercial and it looked cool. I told him that it has nothing to do with the commercial and that I need them because of the ghost. It remains to be seen who will win this argument.

I have so enjoyed this blog about your ghost. You and the others have outdone yourselves on this one. I have been sitting here giggling for about 40 minutes.
You didn’t ask, but I would like to tell you how I’d feel about this new entity in your life. I would try to find out what its trying to tell you. You have been in your home for a year, and it is now showing up. Thats interesting. I noticed a post above that mentioned this time of the year was the most active they thought, so maybe that’s why it’s apparent now. The smoking thing is strange to me, but I’d go for it. I’d bring an old typewriter out and see if you get results. Can you tell I know nothing about this type of thing? As you mentioned, its not evil, but might have something to tell you.
I must also say things move around my house all the time, but I have 3 cats and a dog…
Good luck and keep us posted!
